Description

A 80 hectares wine estate in Stellenbosch producing an average of 200 tons of grapes from 67.3 ha of vineyards with a 400 tons cellar. Other improvements includes two 3 bedroom houses and 4 staff cottages and a guest cottage on a beautiful dam. The wine cultivars on the farm include Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Pinotage, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Sangiovese, Chardonnay, Riesling and Chenin Blanc. The Tuscan style cellar is partially sunken into the ground – making it cooler for maturation and at the same time allowing the grapes to enter the cellar by gravitation (putting less strain on the grapes). Only 7% of the grapes are at present used in producing their own estate wines – whilst the balance of the harvest is delivered to the local co-op (for which the farm has a 540 tons production quota). The estate also has 4 000 olive trees on 6.5 ha producing 5 ton of olive oil per year. Water – boreholes on the property delivers crystal clear water (bottling mineral water according to the owners a possibility) to 2 earth holding dams (listed for 28 500 cu.m) on the farm from where 2 pump houses provide the whole property with water through a well designed irrigation system. Most of the vineyards are equipped with micro-jet systems. There are perennial springs on the farm and an equipped bore hole delivers 6 000 litres/hour.
